5K/10K Course Description
The 5k and 10k will start in front of Shepherd University Football Stadium at 9 AM. Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k start together.
Runners will cross the Potomac on the newly restored Rumsey Bridge and run up to historic Ferry Hill C&O Headquarters. 5k and 10k runners
will turn right onto Canal Road, go down a steep hill and cross the footbridge to the C&O Canal. Runners will take a left (turn down
river) onto the C&O Canal.
5k runners will follow the C&O Canal down the river approximately 1 mile to 5K aid station and turn around point. 10k runners will
proceed down river another 1.5 miles to their turn point and another aid station. Runners will run back up river and pass under the
Rumsey Bridge, exit the Canal on the right, and follow bike path to Rumsey Bridge. At the top of the bridge runners turn left to cross
the Potomac River back towards Shepherd University stadium.
Runners will follow the cones to an asphalt path leading into Shepherd University Stadium and Finish Line. Your family and friends
can cheer you on from the stands and join you in post race festivities including the Oktoberfest at the Bavarian Inn.
